5 Bluey Games to Play at Home

Bluey is everywhere, and I love it!

Below is a list of games from episodes of Bluey that you can enjoy with your family. Watch the episode together and then play the corresponding game at home. I hope you enjoy!

1) Open Credit Freeze Dance (All seasons):

Step 1: Gather a group of friends or family members.

Step 2: Designate one person as the DJ, responsible for playing and pausing the music. If no one wants to be the DJ, you can download a freeze dance song like “Go! Stop!” by Mister Clay or “The Party Freeze Dance Song” by The Kiboomers.

Step 3: Start playing the music.

Step 4: While the music is playing, everyone dances freely, showcasing their best moves.

Step 5: When the DJ pauses the music or the music stops, participants must freeze in their current position.

Step 6: The last person to freeze is out of the round (they can move to the side and cheer on the others).

Step 7: Continue playing rounds until only one dancer remains, who becomes the winner.

2) Magic Xylophone (Season 1, Episode 1):

Step 1: Grab an instrument. In the show, it’s a toy xylophone, but you can use a toy ukulele, drum, shaker, or a pot with a spoon.

Step 2: Pick a person to be the Musician Magician (start with the youngest and go to the oldest).

Step 3: The Musician Magician plays a single note on the instrument.

Step 4: When the note is played, all players freeze in place.

Step 5: The Musician Magician can then reposition the frozen players or 'decorate' them (e.g., place funny hats on them, put a leg in the air, etc.).

Step 6: The Musician Magician plays a note again. Everyone unfreezes and reacts to their new costume or position.

Step 7: Take turns until all players have had a turn. You can also give everyone a certain number of turns or play with timed turns.

3) Keepy Uppy (Season 1, Episode 3):

Step 1: Blow up a balloon.

Step 2: Stand in an open space, making sure there are no fragile items nearby. (WARNING: MAKE SURE THERE IS NOTHING NEARBY THAT CAN CAUSE HARM IF FALLEN UPON.)

Step 3: The objective is to keep the ball or balloon off the ground for as long as possible.

Step 4: Players take turns hitting or tapping the ball or balloon to keep it afloat

Step 6: Once the balloon hits the ground, the game is over. If you want to play a longer version of this game, play up to 10 points, and the player who last hit the balloon before it hits the ground gets a point.

4) Shadowlands (Season 1, Episode 5):

Step 1: Choose a well-lit room or a sunny outdoor area. You just need shadows.

Step 2: If inside, turn on a light source, such as a flashlight or a lamp, and position it to cast shadows on the floor. If outside, find a shady spot with some sun.

Step 3: Pick a starting point and an end point.

Step 4: Encourage players to try to make it from the starting point to the end point, BUT they can only step in the shadowy spots. If you touch the sunny spots, you're 'out.'

Step 5: Move objects in your environment to create and cast shadows.

Step 6: Once all remaining players make it to the end, the game is over.

5) The Claw (Season 1, Episode 19):

Step 1: Gather a variety of toys/plush animals for 'prizes,' pennies for 'tokens,' and a wooden spoon for the 'controller.'

Step 2: An adult sits crisscross applesauce on the floor with the toys in their lap. This person is THE CLAW.

Step 3: Players give THE CLAW tokens to start (just like a claw machine at the store).

Step 4: The player uses the wooden spoon to maneuver THE CLAW over a toy they want to grab. They say "BEEP," "GO," or another trigger word to make THE CLAW's hand descend into the toys.

Step 5: THE CLAW lifts the toy and drops it into the player's lap.

Step 6: All players take turns.

Step 7: For added fun, THE CLAW can let go of the toys before dropping them into the player's lap. The player can earn new tokens by performing silly tasks (e.g., stand on one foot, touch your nose, etc.)
