The problem with Medicaid, part 1.

I’ve been told not to post this because I might make higher ups a little upset.

Good thing I’m a dummy.

When you enroll in Medicaid, you have to choose a Medicaid provider. Each provider is different. And as a clinician, over time, you learn which providers or MCOs cover services. And which ones are easiest for families to work with. But, we are not allowed to tell families this information.

Yup, with over 16 years of experience, I am not able to guide families to make it easier for them to get services by telling them facts about Medicaid providers.

Imagine, being a family, with a newly diagnosed chronically ill child. You are drowning in information. You pick a plan that you think is good, only to find out it doesn’t work for you. You want to change it, but none of your providers are allowed to recommend plans without the risk of audits or being kicked of a plan as a provider.

It’s insane. It’s unethical. It’s part of the reason that I’m trying to find other revenue streams (see my bio link).

I want to be able to educate families and not have to worry about Medicaid crushing my business. Help me educate others. Share this post. Save this post.
